Subject: Acquisition of New Buses.

This is a proposal purchase more buses for the bus line from Parsons Blvd to Rosedale. The reason I am making this proposal is because of the problems that arise during the rush hour.

Summary

As many of you know, there is a bus line that runs from Parsons Blvd, Queens to Rosedale, Queens. This bus line gets very busy during the morning and afternoon rush hours. And especially during the afternoon rush hours, there is an acute shortage of Q111 buses. This problem is made worse by the fact that their [SD1] sometimes 40 to 50 people must wait up to an hour for a bus to arrive[SD2] . I would like to formally request a meeting with the heads of the MTA to discuss my proposal.

Discussion

My proposal is that the city needs to purchase[SD3] more buses to supply this overly congested route. The introduction of new buses with extra room a few years back was a step in the right direction, but in order to provide New Yorkers with quick and reliable public transit we need to purchase buses, hire more drivers.

Here’s how my system would work. During the rush hours buses would arrive[SD4] at least every ten minutes. I know that this will cause I lot of issues in terms of personnel

, [SD5] but this can be solved by hiring more drivers to deal with the increased demand.

I also want to establish a forum where taxpayers in certain communities could address their concerns about wait times directly to MTA leadership. That way the process will be more democratic and help more people directly.

Resolution

Thanks for reviewing my proposal. I would like to discuss this proposal further with the heads of the MTA. I would also like to see if the establishment of local community transportations boards can be established online, or in council meetings. You can contact me at dcamili000@citymail.cuny.edu for anything that you would like to add.
